The economy grew by 3.6 percent in 2016, driven primarily by private consumption and investment. Higher growth rates are projected for 2017- 18, boosted by public investment pickup. Growth resulted in employment creation in 2016, supporting poverty reduction at home; but sustained poverty reduction remains challenging as labor markets remain weak and pressures to seek employment abroad remain high. Read more...
